Emerald Coast Middle School Presents The 3rd Annual Paint’n the Rays Fun Run Friday, April 10 2015 1:30-3:00pm

 

What is a “paint’n run”? Runners will begin the race “clean” and throughout the course runners are coated with powder paint creating a work of art in motion! The 2015 Fun Run will be held during school hours, we invite all ECMS students and families to participate in this fun and fitness promoting event. We will have music, refreshments & Paint’n the Rays SWAG.  All paint is cornstarch based and non-toxic!

 

Who Benefits? Paint’n the Rays Fun Run is a community charity event with all proceeds to benefit Emerald Coast Middle School technology programs.

 

Who Can Run? We invite all students at ECMS to participate. Parents please contribute a $20 donation if you join your student.

 

Registration:      Complete the form below by April 1, 2015 to guarantee your ECMS Paint’n the Rays sunglasses

 

Awards:                     Students who bring in a $10 donation by April 10, 2015 will receive a free dress day. Students are encouraged to seek additional pledges from family, neighbors and local businesses.

·         The HOMEROOM CLASS with the most donations wins a PIZZA PARTY

  • THAT’S NOT ALL ! Top grade level prizes for most money raised too!
  • 3 FREE DRESS DAYS for all students if ECMS raises $6,000
  • 1 WEEK of FREE DRESS for all students if ECMS raises $7,000 Pledge collection may continue until the day of the event April 10, 2015

·         2 FREE DRESS DAYS for all students if ECMS raises $5,000.

Paint’n the Rays Registration and Permission Form

Please complete one form per participant, student participation in this event requires a Parent/Guardian Signature whether or not pledges are collected. Please sign below and return by Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Safety is one of ECMS and PACTS greatest concerns. Accordingly, reasonable efforts are made to make school events safe.

However, participation in an event such as, or similar to the one mentioned above carries with it certain unavoidable, unpredictable, and inherent risks and dangers that no amount of care, caution, or instruction can eliminate. By signing below, the minor and parent/ legal guardian of the minor understands, acknowledges and agrees: 1.That the undersigned parties have read and understand all the information on the consent form. 2. The minor is physically fit and has not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person. 3. Parents will make sure that their child wears appropriate footwear to participate in this event.

Thank You to all of the home rooms who participated in collecting box tops. In the end our competition for the month of February was won by :

? Ms. Carter’s homeroom with a total of 747 box tops brought in! As a reward they will receive a free ice cream part.

? Second place was Ms. Machell’s homeroom with 503 box tops

? Third place went to J Miller’s homeroom with 409 box tops

 

Thank you all the effort and enthusiasm. Participation is what makes our school great!

What to bring: Your own set of Golf Clubs

  and a positive attitude.

What: ECMS Stargazing Event

When: Friday, April 24

Time: Sunset: 7:24 pm (if bringing own telescope set up begins at 6:30)

Who: All ECMS students and families

Where: ECMS-field behind the bus ramp

 

This will be an awesome opportunity for ECMS students to enjoy an evening under the stars.  View the moon, planets, constellations, and far-away galaxies from our own backyard. Members from the Northwest Florida Astronomy Association will be on hand for all of us to view from their amazing telescopes and our new ECMS telescopes. Students are encouraged to bring their own telescopes and a member will be on-hand to assist with proper set-up.

The WCREA (Walton County Retired Education Association) Essay contest winner for Walton County was Minh Chau Luong from Emerald Coast Middle School. The topic for the contest was an experience with a grandparent or grandparent figure.
