The Spanish teacher, Susan Marino, at Emerald Coast Middle School was one of three teachers statewide selected for a Shine Award for her positive impact on students. She received the proclamation Tuesday, April 2014 in Tallahassee along with a medal.  She will travel to Orlando, Florida during the summer for the final teacher of the year presentation.

On March 7, 2014, Emerald Coast Middle School was one of thirteen Panhandle middle schools competing in Tallahassee at the Big Bend Track Classic Middle School Showdown. The ECMS girls and boys teams both took first place honors. ECMS athletes qualifying for the State meet on May 10th at the IMG Academy in Bradenton were, for the girls team, Ally Woodard in the 1600 meter and Payton Thede in the triple jump. Qualifying for the boys team were Frederik Grosskopf in the 100 and 200 meter hurdles, Jace Eply in the 100 meter hurdles, Joel Wildes in the triple jump and Jon Porter in the high jump. Setting meet records were Ally Woodard in the 1600 meter, Frederik Grosskopf in the 200 meter hurdles, Owen Welbourn in the boys 1600 meter.

Emerald Coast Middle School  5th Grade Science students  participated in the annual Edible Car Race. All car parts must be made of edible materials and were raced down a ramp in several elimination heats. This years big winner “Bread Loaf”. Pictured on the right with Mr.Infinger Principal, is Mrs.Susan Marino, ECMS Teacher of the Year, who has also named Walton County District Teacher of the Year.  Senora Marino teaches Spanish to 5th - 8th Grade students.  Pictured on the left  is Mrs.Janet King, ECMS Educational Support Person of the Year.  Mrs. King works in the cafeteria and feeds our students delicious breakfast and lunch daily.  Congratulations to both.

Emerald Coast Middle School sweeps the competition.  The ECMS academic team went a perfect 4-0 this season defeating all Walton County middle schools in both A and B divisions.  Congratulations Academic Team !  Chris Hopper
