ECMS art students participated in the 2014-15 Rosemary Beach Music in Pictures Art Exhibition and Contest. 15 Walton County Schools participated, and ECMS is proud to announce that 8th grade student, Sofia Papagni’s painting was selected as a Best of Show from over 300 artworks. Karen Yanez, another 8th grade student, was awarded the Chairman’s Award, which was given to only one student per school.  Please look over the list below and congratulate the many students who medaled. All artwork will be displayed at either Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, the Coastal Branch Library or Amavida in Rosemary Beach. What a creative and talented group of kids we have here at ECMS, bravo stingrays!

5th grader Brandon Specht was chosen as a winner of the Scholastic Storyworks magazine writing contest for the Nov/Dec issue. Brandon wrote an article explaining why the mantis shrimp would make an awesome super villain! Way to go, Brandon!

We are excited to be representing the annual Change for Children Campaign for 2015!  This will continue until March 6th.

The Children's Neighborhood Society helps to provide a safe, stable and nurturing environment to foster children of Walton County. All monies collected will help feed, clothe and care for their needs.  

Three prizes will be awarded:

1.  The winning grade level will win a free dress day.

2.  The homeroom withing the winning grade level that raises the most money will be awarded a doughnut party!

AND...

3. There will be a Faculty Vs. Student DODGE BALL game.

SO... GET BUSY ROBBING THOSE PIGGY BANKS.   IT'S ON!!!

Nasim Razavi:  Honorable Mention in Medicine and Health 

Sophia Papagni:  3rd Place in Biochemistry

A state bid, where he will represent Walton County in Lakeland, Florida

And The Broadcom Masters Award where he will represent Walton County in a national competition

History Team members participating in the Regional Finals of the National History Bee in Baton Rouge were:

Eric Plunk, Maddox Rhea, Nick Sirmans and Cooper Weakly advanced to the next round and will compete in the National Finals in Louisville, Kentucky in May.

Eric Plunk, Nick Sirmans and Cooper Weakly medaled by placing in the top ten.

And finally, ECMS’s own Nick Sirmans took first place overall in the regional tournament.
