Brandi Martin

Mrs. Brandi Ashby-Martin was born in Henderson, Kentucky. She is a graduate of Webster County High School, located in Dixon, Kentucky. Mrs. Ashby-Martin went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Master of Education in learning and behavior disorders from Murray State University. She taught in Kentucky and Alabama prior to Florida and holds certification in K-12 exceptional student education and middle grades mathematics. 


Gina Menard

Ms. Menard was born in Helena, Arkansas, but was raised in Columbus, Ga. She graduated from Columbus State University where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Special Education and later her Masters in Interrelated Special Education.  Ms. Menard is also certified in ELA and is the ESE Department Head with over 30 years experience in all areas of ESE.



John Mahoney

Mr. Mahoney has worked in the field of education and mental health for over 35 years.  He is a certified Special Education teacher in Florida, New Jersey, and Oregon.  He has worked in International Schools, Public Schools, and Therapeutic Residential Schools, primarily with high school and middle school students.

He has worked as a therapist, an outdoor guide, and trained with both N.O.L.S. National Outdoor Leadership School and Outward Bound - USA.  He has worked with a wide variety of culturally diverse populations, and age groups both domestically and overseas.  He has worked with Native American  youth and families on the reservation, expatriate kids in Africa and Indonesia, and paroled gang members as a GED Instructor.

For ten years he managed and worked as a special education teacher and counselor for a multi-agency Oregon Public School District off campus experiential special education treatment program.

He is accountable, creative, cohesive, highly motivated, a lifelong learner who is ethically and professionally guided.  

He loves his children and the ocean, and spends most of his free time with both.

Julie Gregory

Staffing Specialist

Julie Smith Gregory is originally from Tennessee.  She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology with minors in psychology and Exceptional Student Education.  She completed her Master's Degree at University of West Florida in Educational Leadership.  Julie is certified in Pre-K, Exceptional Student Education, Elementary Education, Educational Leadership, and is ESOL endorsed.  She has proudly taught over 20 years in Walton County School District.  Currently, Julie serves ECMS, SWHS, Seaside Neighborhood School, and SeaCoast Collegiate High School as the ESE Staffing Specialist.

Brandin Shost


Brandin Shost is originally from New Hampshire where he attended the University of New Hampshire earning his Bachelor's of Science degree in horticulture with a minor in landscape design.  He worked for the state of NH as a county extension agent.  During his time there, he heades "Agriculture in the Classroom" for four years.  He attended Notre Dame College and earned his degree in Special Education.

Brandin and his wife Deb completed two cross-country bicycle trips since 1997.  Each of the trips was over 3500 miles.  They fell in love with Wisconsin and moved there in 1998.  They lived there for ten years.  While living there, Mr. Shost attended the University of Wisconsin and earned his Master's Degree in learning disabilities/social emotional behavioral disorders.  Mr. Shost, his wife and two children moved to Freeport, Florida in 2007.  He has been teaching Gifted instruction in Walton County School District for ten years.

Mr. Shost is currently the Gifted instructor for Van R. Butle Elementary, Bay Elementary, South Walton High School and ECMS.  He is also the boys' soccer coach at Emerald Coast Middle School.  In 2017, the boys' soccer team set two state records for scoring the most goals in a season, 89 and only allowed 4 goals, while going undefeated and winning the conference championship.  Mr. Shost is a Boston Red Sox and Green Bay Packers fan.  He enjoys golf, soccer, gardening and traveling.
